Read Erle Stanley Gardner sometime. He writes a damn good story. My only thing that hurts my brain is he comes from the school of 'put as many characters as possible in your story as possible'
i think a central detective figure is a good way to go. Mysteries are hard, but a curious protagonist never hurts.

'What it means' versus 'What it means to me'
You've met me and I've met you. We'll smoke out post coital cigarette and never see each other again.
This blog is about things that happen in my story, "Children running on beaches"
Not about sugar coated self-analysis of the author. If I'm a good writer, which means that I resign myself to my very own ideas and imagination, than the layers
of said self will be peeled back like a fat oninon very very naturally.
I will quote something I have written or am thinking about writing, and do a fiery
brawl into what the words mean and wrestle with the poetry. Poetry, ain't that a bitch. I love what we can see and what it means to me. But what I love the most is
the poetry without petulence, without regret, without meaning.
Every time I read it, the meanings and images change, but my characters won't.
They are classic figures sculpted from the cliffs of my mind. Cool
The next article will be something steamy and pretty unaccurate. It will focus on
what the title, "Children running on beaches", means, or what it means to me.

idea guys don't have mechanics
I will always be an idea guy first. I used to think it was about some supreme moment of inspiration but it isn't really that at all. Most ideas are un extraordinary. That is to say they are extrally just ordinary.
The chief impetus for getting out of bed in the morning is to kick, scratch and bite the way to making an okay idea into a great concept. Let's get on with the heroics, shall we?
It all started with comic books and drawing them. I'd make a character and give him a cool name and superpower...
then another and another until i had many characters only drawn once, and all the combat was all not wasted, but merely done in my head. Face it, boring is drawing.
OR repeating. When you move around like i did, time is of the essence.
At the end I had very convincingly created a mist-like universe but didn't know mechanically how to put flesh it out. Comic books were getting stale and superpowers left more and more to be desired. In fact, folks, at 21 I started reading novels, ugh, like my dad. They obliterated old synaptics and connected new ones. I found it more liberating to sketch the author's words in my head than to photograph a supervillian's cover art with my eyes.
I knew writing could bring me back, but how? I hate long projects. I'm an idea guy.
Did I mention that? Once you bring the beautiful seed to its fruition....I'm getting lost in silly metaphors.
I hate long projects. there no darn fun.
How do I take ideas and connect them into a thing called 'Storytelling'?

children running on beaches
I haven't ever been good at documenting my life. When you've lived as I, there can never really be any real good version better than the real thing, can there?
I'm not sure any more, but what I am sure about is that I want to start to throw my mental fesces at the wall and see what sticks.
The title, MUST SAVE FACE, is very important to me because it is exactly against what i stand for. I am doing this more for me than for anybody else, and I could care less about the thoughts of other, in general, but I am interested in people's own thoughts about how they would be in the same situation. One life to live and all that. So welcome hooligans, to my open wounds, the journal on how I will write my supernatural/scifi/poetry story called "Children running on beaches"
